In the course of one month, the 'wonder of engineering' under the leadership of Dr. Hugo Eckener, fl ew once around the globe. Th e 42,163 km long route took them from Lakehurst in New Jersey, to Friedrichshafen in Germany, then to Tokyo, Los Angeles, back to Lakehurst and fi nally back to Friedrichshafen again. With the fl ight around the world, the Zeppelin delivered proof of its suitability for travel. Many other trips to all corners of the earth were to follow and a scheduled service across the Atlantic was introduced. In einem Monat umrundete das „Wunder der Technik“ unter Leitung von Hugo Eckener einmal den Globus. Die rund 50.000 Kilometer lange Route führte von Friedrichshafen nach Tokio, Los Angeles, Lakehurst in New Jersey und schließlich wie- der zurück nach Deutschland. Mit dem Weltfl ug stellt der Zeppelin seine Reisetauglichkeit unter Beweis, viele weitere Reisen in alle Ecken der Erde sollten folgen. Auch ein Einsatz im Liniendienst über den Atlantik wurde aufgenommen. Aujourd'hui encore, le ballon dirigeable « Graf Zeppelin » détient de nombreux records et d'innombrables contes et légendes rendent hommage à sa technologie et ses vols. S cestou kolem světa prokázal Zeppelin svou schopnost cestovat, měly následovat další cesty do všech koutů světa. Také byla zahájena linková přeprava přes Atlantik. Dokonce i dnes drží vzducholoď „Graf Zeppelin“ mnoho rekordů a její lety a technika jsou opředeny mnoha příběhy a legendami. S neštěstím Hindenburgu začal úpadek vzducholodí a také konec „Graf Zeppelinu“. Na začátku 2. světové války byl sešrotován a kapitola civilní letecké přepravy vzducholoděmi byla prozatím uzavřena. 11
